Insurance Plans
We can do the shopping for you!
Chances are if you are currently shopping for health insurance, either by phone or on the internet, you have probably seen a wide range of prices and plans. The biggest problem is that when you see a price, it is difficult to understand exactly what coverage you actually have. The shopping process for health insurance is no longer a simple task of just comparing deductibles, co-pays, and premiums. Many companies are limiting benefits, excluding pre-existing conditions, putting limits on outpatient testing, transplants, therapy, & nervous conditions, etc. It can be somewhat of a mine field.
I am sure we can design a plan to meet your needs and budget. You can lower the premium by taking a higher deductible and still have unlimited doctor visits for a co-pay (not subject to the deductible). Listed below are some of the plans we offer and an explanation about each.
Individual Major Medical
Individual Major Medical plans are always subject to underwriting. The final offer for coverage is based on the health of the applicant. Applicants can be denied insurance, issued standard, issued with an exclusion rider, or issued with an increase in premium. Please call and we will advise you based on your unique situation.
Group Major Medical
Group Major Medical plans are available in SC to any company employing two or more full-time (30+ hours per week) employees. Group health plans of 2-50 employees are issued on a guaranteed basis no matter what the health of the employees. However, the premium can be increased up to 67% which is determined by the overall health of the employees and the number of enrollees. Benefits, participation rules, and underwriting rules will vary between insurance companies. There are different ways we can help when it comes to putting a group plan in place. Please call us and we will analyze your situation and make recommendations to provide the best choice for you and your employees.
Long Term Disability
Long Term Disability (LTD) plans are available with groups of two or more employees. Also, individual plans are available with several of our carriers. Guaranteed issue is available with ten or more employees. LTD protects against loss of earnings due to injury or sickness. These plans can usually secure coverage up to 66 2/3% of their yearly earnings. LTD is typically sold with a 30, 60, 90, or 180 day waiting period. Benefits can be purchased for two years, 5 years, or to age 65. Call and we will design a plan to meet your needs.
Medicare Supplements
Medicare Supplement plans are policies issued by private companies. These plans are designed to pay for expenses approved by Medicare which Medicare may not cover. Medicare supplement policies pay some or all of Medicare's deductible and co-payments. Congress passed a law that authorized the NAIC to develop a standardized model for Medicare supplement policies under the Omnibus Budget Reconciliation Act of 1990 (OBRA). Medicare supplement policies are referred to as Medigap policies. These plans must meet certain requirements as to participant eligibility and benefits provided. Please call us for a more complete explanation of plans for you or your family.
Long Term Care & Home Health Care
Long Term care (LTC) plans can be purchased for one person or as a husband and wife package. These plans provide daily benefits to help pay for nursing home or home health care expenses. Benefits are tailored to fit a person's individual circumstances. Premiums are based on your period of coverage and health. Policies are underwritten but flexible. Please call us for a private consultation.
Term Insurance
Term Insurance policies are typically issued for 5, 10, 15, 20, 25, or 30 years. Premiums usually remain level during this time. Premiums are based on the health of the applicant and the number of years purchased. Please call and we can quote approximate rates from a variety of insurance companies.
